Today was a great day for curling. 14 youth hit the ice for the first time at the idylwyldegcc for a free “try curling” event. Some were introduced to curling via the rocksandringscurling program in their schools and others saw the Olympics coverage which prompted their interest. Getting to turn on the TV and see Sudbury’s Tracy Fleury and Team Homan at the Olympics is certainly inspiring to the next generation of curlers. During the hot chocolate break, the kids got to meet teammacewancurling member oboninducharme and take some pictures with him before they get to see him on TV as he represents Northern Ontario at the Brier. Thank you Olivier for taking the time to meet and greet with the kids and their families. Our teammate abbydeschene and a group of volunteers rounded out the instruction staff for the day. Thank you to everyone involved with organizing and running the event.
