Introducing our new team President Katherine Denis. kat.denis is replacing Nathan who will be Argentina-bound for his cool CO-OP placement. Katherine studies in uOttawa's School of Human Kinetics, and is passionate about ski racing and keeping girls involved in sport. Katherine began skiing at Temiskaming Nordic ski club; she joined Nakkertokracingteam when she moved to Ottawa where she also coaches. This year Kat represented Canada at FISU Winter Universiade #Krasnoyarsk2019 and is looking forward to another season of skiing with uOttawaNordiq. Thea's race was a perfect celebration of xc skiing! We were happy to have athletes and coaches participating. Nakkertok established the event to encourage women to demonstrate their competitive desire and enthusiasm for sport. The race is named after Thea Holloway, a founding member and past-president of Nakkertok, who made immense contributions to women and sport, and loved cross-country skiing, tennis, cycling or hiking. Thea’s daughter Sue Holloway is an active member of Nakkertok and a driving force for this event. (Sue followed her mother’s passion in a big way: she was the first Canadian to compete in both Summer and Winter Games in the same year – 1976, and won 2 medals in canoe sprint at the 1984 Summer Olympics).
