September’s a Wrap!

September in Review

September flew by, and somehow the first month of our season is already in the books!

After a summer of preparation, we were so excited to finally get back on the ice and start our first season together. With a new lineup, a busy schedule ahead and some big goals for the year, September was all about getting comfortable together, learning and starting to build as a team.

And, of course, playing some curling!

Starting the Season Strong

We kicked off our season in early September and couldn’t have asked for a much better start, finishing second in our first event together! It was great to finally get the season underway and put all of our summer preparation into action. We played some great games throughout the weekend and were happy to start the year with a trip to the final.

A second-place finish was a pretty great way to get things started, and we left KW excited for everything still to come this season.

Next Stop: Oakville

A couple of day later, we packed our bags again and headed to Oakville for our second event of the season.

While we didn’t get the playoff finish we were hoping for this time around, we had another great weekend of competition and were happy to get more games under our belts early in the season.

With two events officially in the books, we headed home and turned our attention to a training weekend before our next stop in October.

Putting in the Work

We wrapped up September with a training weekend together, which was a nice change of pace after starting the month with two events.

Since we aren’t all based in the same place, getting everyone together for dedicated practice time is especially valuable. It gives us the chance to work on the little things that can be harder to tackle during an event and, just as importantly, spend time together away from competition.

We’re only a month into our first season together, but between the games, practices, road trips and everything in between, there have already been plenty of memories made along the way.

Some Exciting News Off the Ice

September was a pretty exciting month away from the rink, too!

We were thrilled to officially welcome Dyno Nobel and Alamos Gold as Co-Title Partners of Team Brunton!

Dyno Nobel is a global leader in commercial explosives and blasting solutions, supporting the mining industry and communities across Northern Ontario. Alamos Gold is a Canadian-based gold producer with operations in Canada and Mexico and a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, integrity and environmental sustainability.

We’re incredibly excited to have both organizations joining us for the season ahead. The support of our partners plays a huge role in giving us the opportunity to travel, compete and continue chasing the goals we’ve set for ourselves this season.

What’s Coming in October

There won’t be much slowing down in October!

First up, we’re heading to Toronto for the Stu Sells Toronto Tankard from October 8–12, where we’ll get our next chance to compete together.

We also have something fun happening while we’re in Toronto: an upcoming See What She Can Do photoshoot! Keep an eye out for some new team content coming from our time in Toronto. 📸

After Toronto, we’ll have a couple more weeks of training and preparation before hitting the road again at the end of the month for the Rose Dolan Women’s Fall Classic in Kemptville.

September gave us a little bit of everything: our first games together, a podium finish, plenty of learning, lots of practice, new partnerships and lots of memories made off the ice along the way.

Not a bad way to start.

Here’s to October! 🥌
