Emily B is 41 years old and she lives in Mono, ON. CrossFit snuck up on her but now she is hooked. This is her story as she shared it with SeeWhatSheCanDo.
CrossFit came into my life by surprise. My kids nominated me for a Mother's Day contest in the local paper. One of the prizes was two months of CrossFit. I had never heard of it before. I exercised regularly and thought I was in pretty good shape – until I stepped into that building. The workout blew me away. And I have been hooked ever since.
It took me some time to build up my endurance, but now I go five days a week. It's changed me, not just physically, but who I am, and how I see myself. I am a strong woman. I am a role model to my kids. All three attend CrossFit with me. My girls do the Kidsfit, and my son does the WOD (workout of the day) with me. It’s awesome to be able to share this with them. If they can get into lifting at a young age, and know how enjoyable exercise can be, that will help them so much in life.

Sometimes we lose ourselves when we have children. We give everything to our families. I think it's important to hold onto something for yourself. For me, that’s what CrossFit is all about. It’s my time. It’s a stress reliever. It’s a confidence booster. It’s made me strong. It helps me be a better wife and mother.
Every woman should have something like that…something that makes you feel better.
