2021 Cruisers Cup - Back in the driver's seat with Cruisers Sports

Game On

From blades cutting the ice, coaches calls at the bench and cheers from the fans in the stands, there were so many truly enjoyable game-day sounds for everyone to experience at the 2021 Cruisers Cup. The Cruisers Cup is one of the premier para ice hockey tournaments held in Ontario and is hosted by Cruisers Sports. It's an annual event held in the City of Brampton's Susan Fennell Sportsplex (formerly the South Fletcher Sportsplex) and generously supported by Tim Horton's.

In it's 13th year, but coming off the cancellation of 2020's scheduled tournament because of the COVID-19 global pandemic, organizers, players and supporters were genuinely grateful and excited to be back playing and watching the game they love. The tournament attracts teams from across Ontario, throughout Canada, the United States and around the world.  Indeed, Team Korea was one of the teams that played in the top tier 'A' division this past weekend.

While only half as many teams that normally sign up had come to play, those who did make the trip to Brampton, did so with an extra willingness to dig deep in the corners and celebrate a little louder their teams' efforts on the ice. In the words of Claire Buchanan, a player on the Division 'A' Cruisers All Blacks team and a member of Canada's 2019 - 2020 Women's Para Ice Hockey Team, it was "one of the most fun weekends I've had playing sledge hockey".  Proof positive in the joy and power of play.
