The end of day four at the 2019 Credit Union Canadian Ringette Championships in Charlottetown/Summerside saw teams advance to the championship and consolation rounds in the U16 and U19 divisions, while round-robin play continues in the National Ringette League (NRL) division.

In the U16 division, Team Alberta (Calgary Impulse) finished round-robin play undefeated which earned them a spot in the quarterfinals tomorrow. They will meet Team PEI (Wave) after that team defeated Spruce Grove Rage 5-4 today. Zone 2 (AB) also received a bye to the quarterfinals, where they will meet West Ottawa after that team defeated Team Manitoba (Angels) 4-1 today. The Cyclones de Quebec finished round-robin play in a mini game, beating Team BC (LMRL Thunder) 1-0. They then faced GCRA (ON) and beat them 4-3 to move into the quarterfinals tomorrow where they will meet Calgary Core who received a bye to that game. Team Ontario (Waterloo) also received a bye to the quarterfinals where they will meet Team NB, who beat Team Quebec (Rive-Sud) 6-3 today.

In the U19 division, Laurentides (QC) finished up round-robin play undefeated after downing Calgary Rush 4-3 and beating Zone 5 GRIT (AB) 10-3. They will move into the quarterfinals tomorrow where they will meet Edmonton Elite. In other quarterfinal play tomorrow, Team Quebec (Lac Saint-Louis) will meet the Nepean Ravens; Team Alberta (Calgary Rogue) will meet Calgary Rush; and Team Ontario (Guelph Predators) will meet Team New Brunswick.

In today’s NRL championship tournament play, the Cambridge Turbos opened up the day with a 5-4 win over Edmonton WAM! in double overtime. Calgary RATH downed Ottawa Ice 5-4 and Atlantic Attack beat Montreal Mission 8-4. Waterloo Wildfire ended the day with a 10-7 win over Manitoba Intact. Atlantic Attack goes into the last day of round-robin play with ten points and Calgary RATH, Cambridge Turbos and Edmonton WAM! are all tied at eight points. Tomorrow morning’s games will decide who moves into the semifinal game tomorrow night.

Forty-five teams from across the country are competing for national titles in the U16 and U19 divisions, as well as the National Ringette League championship title. Games are taking at Credit Union Place in Summerside, Bell Aliant Centre in Charlottetown, APM Centre in Cornwall and Pownal Sports Centre in Alexandra. Competition in all divisions started today and gold medal finals in all three divisions take place on Saturday, April 13 (U16 at 10:00 ADT in Summerside, U19 at 13:00 ADT in Charlottetown, and NRL at 15:00 ADT in Charlottetown). All-stars and the NRL Annual Awards will be announced at the closing ceremony on Saturday night in Charlottetown.
