Things I've learned from my horses

When I am struggling to teach something to my horse, I always sit back and say “You will always get the same result if you continue to ask in the same way”. So, I change the way I ask, I rephrase the question to help the horse understand what I am asking of it. It took me a while to realize that this not only relates to my riding, but to my everyday life. If you continue to do the same thing over and over, and that thing is continuously not working, you will never get anywhere. Through doing this you have allowed yourself no room to grow. You have chained yourself to a fence with a 10ft leash, that’s as far as you get; that’s your radius. If you are unhappy with the way things currently are, make a change. It doesn’t have to be huge! Sometimes even just the angle of which I carry my wrist can make all the difference in making my horse understand me. So move one foot over, move to a new city, meet new people, say goodbye to people who haven’t done you any good, or heck, just put less sugar in your coffee. If you want to see results, change the way you approach the question. The results will amaze you; I promise. ~ Andrea Rosborough
