Women in Sport: Learn to Curl with Mackenzie!

For more than 29 years, curling has been an important part of Mackenzie’s life. As a high-level competitive curler, coach and instructor, she has experienced firsthand the many benefits sport can provide; from developing confidence and leadership skills to building lasting relationships and a strong sense of community.

Mackenzie is proud to bring this experience to the Women in Sport: Learn to Curl Program at the North Bay Granite Club happening this fall. The seven-week program provides active military women with an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of curling, develop new skills and build connections in a welcoming and supportive environment. The program is offered at no cost to participants through a grant opportunity, with Mackenzie providing the curling instruction.

Programs like this are an important part of creating greater opportunities for women to participate in sport. While competitive sport can provide a pathway for high-level athletes, initiatives that introduce women to sport and create accessible opportunities to participate are equally valuable. They help build confidence, foster connections and demonstrate that there is a place for women at every level of sport.

Throughout her curling career, Mackenzie has seen the positive impact that strong female teams, coaches and mentors can have on athletes. She believes that creating opportunities for women to participate, learn and lead ultimately strengthens the entire sporting community.

Through the Women in Sport: Learn to Curl Program, Mackenzie is excited to share her knowledge and passion for curling while helping participants discover a new sport, develop new skills and experience the many benefits that come from being part of a team.

Supporting women in sport means creating opportunities! Mackenzie is proud to play a role in creating those opportunities on and off the ice.
