Hello SWSCD readers! We are Team Armstrong, a competitive women’s curling team representing the Whitby Curling Club, and we are new members of the See What She Can Do community. Our team is made up of 4 players (Rachel Steele, Michaela Robert, Grace Lloyd, and Hailey Armstrong) and 4 coaches (Doug Johnston, Lori Eddy, Steve Robert, and Earl Morris). It takes a village!  

For our first post, we would like to introduce each of our players and share some fun facts to get to know us in proper #SeeWhatSheCanDo fashion. 

Let’s meet the squad:

🥌 Skip – Hailey Armstrong

At 29 years old, Hailey Armstrong is our fearless Skip and a true leader on the ice. Curling out of the Carleton Place Curling Club, Hailey is known for her calm demeanor and razor-sharp strategy when the pressure is on. Fun fact: even though she’s left-handed, she throws right in curling—just one of the many things that makes her a bit of a unicorn on the team. With her steady leadership and tactical mind, Hailey is the engine behind our game plans.

🥌 Vice – Grace Lloyd

Grace Lloyd, 24, brings skill and steady hands in her role as Vice. Curling out of the Dundas Valley Golf and Curling Club, Grace is always ready to support her Skip, make clutch shots, and keep the team focused and positive. Her love of the game has taken her far—she’s even curled in Japan! Grace is known for her consistency, strong sweeping, and smart decision-making. Whether it’s holding the broom for the Skip or throwing clutch shots of her own, Grace is a dependable force and a great communicator on the ice. 

🥌 Second – Michaela Robert

Our Second, Michaela Robert, is 25 and curls out of the Unionville Curling Club. Michaela is the team’s powerhouse—delivering key setup shots and bringing non-stop energy to sweeping. Off the ice, she has a surprising talent: she can make five soft serve ice cream cones at once! (Yes, we’re just as impressed as you are.) Michaela’s mix of athleticism and fun-loving spirit keeps the team both sharp and smiling.

🥌 Lead – Rachel Steele

Starting each end with precision is 24-year-old Rachel Steele, curling out of the Port Perry Curling Club. Rachel brings consistency, finesse, and hustle in everything she does on the ice. A fun fact about Rachel? She has a twin who also curls! Maybe it’s something in the genes, but curling clearly runs in the family. Rachel’s commitment and attention to detail give the team a strong start every time she steps into the hack.
