Still Building, Still Growing: Team Inglis’ Reflections on the Past Two Seasons

Still Building, Still Growing: Team Inglis’ Reflections on the Past Two Seasons

If there’s one thing the past two years have shown us, it’s that building a team isn’t a single moment — it’s a long, winding process full of lessons, setbacks, small wins, and shared grit. As a team we’ve been honest with ourselves about being a work in progress. And that’s something we’ve grown proud of.

When we look back on the 2023-2025 seasons, the word that keeps coming up is growth. Not the glossy, highlight-reel kind, but the quieter, harder, more personal kind,  the kind that comes from trusting each other, challenging each other, and learning to find our voice as a team.

Over these seasons, we’ve continued shaping who we are on the ice. We’ve worked through changes in our deliveries, new roles, different playbooks and strategies, and the ebb and flow that naturally comes with a team pushing to reach its potential. There have been moments of frustration, breakthroughs that only we saw, and the feeling that we are edging towards becoming the team we know we can be. We’re still building, and we’re proud of that. Because building means believing there’s more in the tank. It means deciding to show up for each other again and again.

Last year’s Scotties in Thunder Bay was a milestone for us. Making the playoffs, battling through tough ice conditions in our final game, and leaving with heads held high reminded us that progress isn’t always neat. We walked away proud, hungrier than ever, and ready to keep pushing toward our goals. Every challenge there became fuel for what’s ahead.

Through it all, our friendship has been the heartbeat of this team. One of the things we hear most often is how much fun it looks like we’re having out there, and it’s true. It’s a privilege to play alongside women you respect deeply and truly love. That joy is real, and it’s one of the greatest strengths we carry with us.

The Olympic Pre-Trials: A Stepping Stone

This fall, we had the chance to compete at the Canadian Olympic Pre-Trials — an opportunity we didn’t take lightly. We came into Wolfville knowing it would test us, but what we didn’t expect was how many lessons it would teach us. Playing in such a strong field against some of the best teams in the country was both humbling and inspiring.

We just missed the playoffs — something that stung in the moment, but has stuck with us in all the right ways. The Pre-Trials became a stepping stone, showing us where we’re strong, where we need to grow, and how resilient we can be when we stay connected.

Wolfville also gave us joy. The energy, the people, the atmosphere — it was one of those events that reminds you why you curl in the first place. We left there with full hearts (and maybe a few too many bottles of Tidal Bay).

Looking Ahead

We’re stepping into the rest of the season with more clarity, more connection, and more belief than we’ve ever had. We know who we are, we know where we want to go, and we know the kind of teammates we want to be for one another.

We’re still building — and we’re grateful for everyone who’s been part of that journey with us.

Next up, we’re excited to compete in the 2026 Farm and Food Care Women’s Curling Ontario Championship, January 4-11 in Elmira, Ontario.
