Saturday Night Highlights: Richmond Hill U19A Ringette

It was an early Saturday evening at Ed Sackfield Arena in Richmond Hill.  For anyone who follows Richmond Hill Ringette, it's the perfect time and place to catch some great local ringette.  On this day in late October, we were fortunate to capture action in two scheduled Richmond Hill U19A games.  The 5pm game against the Mississauga Mustangs and the 6pm game against the Cambridge Turbos.  Certainly for both games, lots of fast and focused play was definitely on display.

But, not only were there great moments to capture on the ice, but on this day, we also got to watch some great moments of character in action.  You see, we learned that a few of the players on the U19A Richmond Hill team who played in the 5:00pm game against the Mustangs, had also chosen to play for the Cambridge Turbos in the 6:00pm game that followed.  Because of their willingness to play two consecutive games, it ensured that the Turbos would have enough players to make the second game a go.  What a great example of character and commitment to their ringette community that these players would choose to play back-to-back games.  On this late October Saturday, we not only captured some great moments of U19A ringette play, we also had the good fortune to highlight the way sport helps young women build their sense of community.  A quality that will most certainly serve them well when they leave the arena and navigate the world around them.
