Explore New York City on foot

If you enjoy people-watching, history, architecture, and the sensory overload of the hustle and bustle of a large metropolitan city, then exploring New York City on foot just might be your thing.  Avoid the traffic jams and instead, allow yourself to enjoy the streetscapes, landscapes and the city's local scene up close and personal.  There are lots of resources online and in print (a few of which are listed at the end of this photo blog) that will help you plan and map out your NYC itinerary.  Once you have an idea of how you will spend your time in the Big Apple, it's time for action.  Put on a good pair of shoes, grab a backpack, fill it with snacks, a street map of New York City, a camera, and whatever you will need to protect yourself from the outside elements, head outside and let the adventures begin.

Over the years, my travels have led me to New York City in the summer, fall, and winter.  No matter what time of the year I found myself there, each and every experience was different from the one before.  Partly because I had chosen to see and do different things; partly because I had received specific suggestions from friends and family; and partly because I would try to learn a little more about the city prior to my impending arrival.  As a photographer, what I love about New York City is that around almost every corner, there is a new image that I see and can't wait to capture with my camera.  Not only are there iconic images of New York City to photograph, but there are also amazing images that highlight everyday living that can only be captured by walking the City's numerous neighbourhoods and boroughs.
