Canadian Jesters Club 2018 University Squash League Action

Squash is a sport that demands constant movement, quick reflexes and an ability to think multiple steps ahead of your opponent in a fraction of a second.  Success in juggling all three of these requirements revolves a lot around the player's stamina, focus and sheer determination to get to the ball.  These player features were definitely on display when SeeWhatSheCanDo had the opportunity to head to the University of Toronto to watch the University of Waterloo's Women's Squash Team compete throughout the weekend as part of the team's participation in the Ontario Jesters Club University Squash League.

This particular league provides female and male university level players with a great chance to play organized high-level squash against each other.  From what we saw, players definitely took full advantage of the chance to compete hard for the win.  On this particular weekend, Team Waterloo, was scheduled to play teams from MacMaster, Brock and Queen's University; teams that have reputations for strong and skilled squash playing.  From what we could see from our vantage point in the spectator gallery and behind the glass, expected play of all teams matched the actual play on the courts with most games involving tight, intense and competitive battles between players.  And, although some might think of squash as an individual sport, in this type of league play, the power of team spirit can definitely provide players with the edge they need to put a much needed 'w' in the win column.
