Are You Being Labelled “Difficult”?

This is one of MANY labels female coaches and sport leaders are given throughout the course of their career.  Female coaches have different behavioural expectations placed on them by parents, organizations and officials.

The following tweet by Tara Slone stayed with me as I reviewed materials related to behavioural expectations of female coaches:

What is your reaction to this?   Sport has always needed female coaches but it has been a fight to get you into those roles.  That fight for your right to be there has resulted into additional barriers such as push back for you being a leader.

We need you to continue to be “difficult”, celebrate one another, support one another and find allies around us who embrace who you are as a coach.  The sport system needs you as you are building paths for future female leaders and positively impacting many lives.

Watch this video to wrap up my blog for today.  Listen to Sheryl Sandberg talk about being a leader and what is important for both females and organizations.

We would like to learn more about your experience as it relates to behavioural expectations as a female coach.  Please take 2 - 3 minutes to answer a few questions so we can share information and supports back out to the full circle.
