Agreement will increase visibility and connectedness between local athletes, organizations, and businesses.

December 3, 2019 (Aurora, ON). SeeWhatSheCanDo, a women-led technology start-up that builds bridges between active women and their communities, today announced it will collaborate with snapd Inc., a community-based technological driven advertising, public relations, networking and marketing services company with locations across Canada.

Founded in 2018, SeeWhatSheCanDo, a first-of-its kind digital platform, was created to solve sport engagement challenges. The organization aims to build confidence, capability and a sense of belonging by connecting women to the content, community and resources they need to get and stay active. Membership is free, and the site is supported through collaborative partnerships with the business community.

“Connectedness is a big benefit of sport participation. There are a lot of great programs but if you’re not already in a sport, it can be challenging to access information or the great community that surrounds it.” says Tina Finelli, SeeWhatSheCanDo Co-Founder. SeeWhatSheCanDo.com is a virtual neighbourhood where women can find each other, organizations that support their passion for active living, stories and female sports coverage that shines the spotlight on women at the community, amateur and elite levels of more than 65 sports.

“There is such an opportunity to increase media coverage of women’s sports at the community level. Over 1/3 of Canadian women participate in sport, yet only 4% of media coverage focuses on women’s sports. We want women to know that what they do counts and see themselves celebrated in the media,” notes Finelli. “snapd has a strong presence in communities across Canada. We’re excited to work together to share the extraordinary stories of athletes, coaches and businesses that inspire girls and women to lead active lives.”

snapd Inc., has a presence in over 150 communities across Canada, the US and Europe, also provides creative marketing, social media, webinars and ticketing services to businesses. “Teaming up with SeeWhatSheCanDo will help us deepen our coverage and promotion of inclusive and meaningful community stories and engage those businesses and local organizations who are serving the needs of active women”, said Paul Dutton, President, and CEO, snapd Inc.

Women face several barriers when it comes to sports participation, including a lack of visible role models, difficulty finding other athletes and resources, and access to local programs. “We help women support each other and get empowered to break down barriers that prevent participation in physical activities,” explains the platform’s Co-Founder, Caroline Wiley. “By uniting women around the power of sport, we aim to change the narrative and make lasting improvements for gender equality, inclusion, diversity, and healthier communities.”

“We would love to see more community stories and coverage of women’s sports,” says Dutton. “We’re incredibly proud to be encouraging this broader conversation about women in sport, and we’re excited by the opportunities our partnership brings to the business community.”
